“Being selected “The 2013 Humanitarian Photojournalist of the Year” by Arete Stories, a global multi-media agency that trains Communications Officers, was a turning point in my career. It allowed me the rare opportunity of getting a one-on-one tutorial with a greatly respected News Photographer, Karel Prinsloo.
Since the tutorial, I continue to receive comments from my supervisors on how absolutely beautiful and unique my photographs are, and how much my photos are contributing towards the organization’s resource mobilization and advocacy efforts. As Karel advised, “Don’t be an assassin photographer! Take a minute to blend in, and wait for the moment.”
