The video went down brilliantly at our dinner, and even got a round of applause! I’ve also had a lot of great feedback and comments since.Jenny, Opportunity International.
Arete produced four incredible case studies for Opportunity International’s Saving Circles project to promote their fundraising appeal.
Our award-winning photojournalist Kate Holt was already in Mozambique on an assignment when Opportunity International (OI) contacted us for support with their Saving Circles project, instantly reducing contracting costs for the non-profit organisation.
Kate worked with OI on the ground for three days, documenting the project and producing powerful case studies featuring four women who had benefitted from the project. Kate photographed and interviewed the women so that OI could tell their inspiring stories within promotional materials and the press.
The Saving Circles project helps people in poverty by giving them an opportunity to build their own business and support themselves. The case studies Kate created in the field were able to show people how the project makes a difference, through inspiring first-hand accounts of real women who had been able to save money to develop their own entrepreneurial activities.
One of the stories Kate gathered was used to front OI’s Saving Circles campaign – a DFID match-funding appeal in which every pound raised in the UK was matched by the government.
The story was used on the side of bus shelters across London in January 2015 and was incredibly successful in raising awareness of the appeal and OI’s vision for a world in which all people have the opportunity to achieve a life free from poverty, with dignity and purpose.
The fundraising appeal closed on 26 February, 2015 and raised £6 million.
