The Costa Foundation’s mission is to improve the lives of children and young people in coffee-growing communities by providing safe, quality education. They have been supporting schools and nurseries across coffee-growing communities in ten countries since 2007. They have helped over 100,000 children go to school.
They engaged Arete to work with their teams of locally based photographers and videographers to tell the stories of these schools; to show the positive impact they are having on generations of young people and the communities around them.
In Ethiopia Arete was asked to gather stories and video footage to tell the story of the Hundredth School.
Outcomes
Arete produced a series of detailed first person written case studies with accompanying photographs of pupils, parents and teachers from seven countries. These stories have been used widely to promote the work of the Costa Foundation and feedback to their supporters.
The video footage and stories gathered in Ethiopia were used to celebrate the opening of the Costa Foundations 100th school as well as it’s fifteenth anniversary.
