Brief

Africa50 was established by African governments and the African Development Bank to help bridge Africa’s infrastructure funding gap by facilitating project development, mobilising public and private sector finance, and investing in infrastructure on the continent. Africa50 focuses on medium to large-scale projects that have a significant development impact and that provide an appropriate risk-adjusted return to investors.

Africa50 needed help to bring these projects to life, demonstrating Africa50’s pivotal role in addressing Africa’s infrastructure challenges and inspiring greater investment for a sustainable future.

Arete mobilised its teams of story tellers in America and across Africa in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, The Gambia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana and Madagascar and gathered powerful content that told the story of the people and communities whose lives were being transformed by these projects.

They supported Africa50 at their General Shareholders Meeting (GSM) in Madagascar by providing on the ground photography services and video editing for social media outputs.

Africa50 also needed graphic design support for its sustainability report, annual report, and their groundbreaking event in Kigali, Rwanda, which Arete was able to provide.

Outcomes

Arete’s team of talented video editors and producers created Africa50’s Corporate Video as well as an introductory film to open the GSM.

Arete co-created the Second Edition of the Impact Series with Africa50: a set of six films that highlight Africa50’s mission to drive sustainable development through innovative investments and strategic partnerships.

One film focused on the Nachtigal Hydropower Plant in Cameroon, a 420 MW renewable energy facility providing electricity to millions while demonstrating the power of public-private collaboration. Another explored Africa50’s broader work in infrastructure, including transportation and digital connectivity, showcasing how these projects drive economic growth and improve lives.
